The Gut

she was a hothead
she was a woman in love

is it windy
will the flag fly
a yellow mess
will the ink drip
on the shoulder of a passerby
where do all these feelings go

laurie anderson said once you write the word yellow the colour dies—
the word yellow is a memorial to the colour

yellow dippy flowers
the centre of the flower
a scented flower
the sun
the yolk of breakfast
the sun
if you see this flag on the street can it take you somewhere
the sun on a cloudy day

i like to think that words can bring things to life. I’m looking out the window, all the leaves have
fallen. The branches are naked and moving gently in the breeze. Who knows where you will
be when you are reading this. Are there glimpses of yellow nearby? Is there a breeze?

i’m trying not to over think things. Is a good feeling strong enough. A pocket of warmth on a
chilly day.
